“Efficient Mobilization (Humans only)

The forces of Creation call to glory in the hearts of mortals. With this powerful enchantment the people of your kingdom shall make swords and axes from their scythes and plowshares and join your army.

   * 5% increase to citizen regrowth
   * Every update, either 0.4-0.8% or 100-5000/(Highest unit stat [+1 if 0]) (whichever is lower) more military units are automatically trained
   * Only one unit type at a time will be trained by this spell
   * Lasts 1–10 updates”

------------------------

I'm just curious, I have never personally used this spell, but i would like to learn a bit about it.

it says “Only one unit type at a time will be trained by this spell” but now how does it pick which type? is there a way to control it (for example does it always does what you have the most of or some other controllable factor) or is it purely random?

Will it give thieves too or just military?

also, will it give you units of ANY type, or only the types you've trained? as in, for example could you cast EM and end up getting 10 ticks of off specs or something you didn't want? (if you were running def spec/elites)

one last question, it says “either 0.4 - —0.8% or 100—-5000/(Highest unit stat [+1 if 0]) (whichever is lower)” does that mean 0.4 - 0.8% of TOTAL military, or 0.4 - 0.8 of the random type it chooses to give you?

just curious, i can see some cases where it may be annoying (getting tons of knights as a brittonian thief for example)

Joe, January 2010

I know at least the answer to 1 question: it will only train units of types that you have.

Aqualightnin, January 2010

cool, thank you joe.

im also curious, does it take the value of the units into consideration, or does it just do a set # (depending on size) of a random type that you have?

as in, will it give you 500 def specs one tick, and 500 elites next tick (even if the elites cost alot more) or would you get less elites when it picks them?

Chonka, January 2010, edited

I think it's 1-1.5% of whatever unit is 'selected'.

Or some other percentage.

Every update, either 0.4-0.8% or 100-5000/(Highest unit stat.. +1 if 0) (whichever is lower) more military units are automatically trained

Bolle, January 2010

Don't believe the formula =.=

EM is the so-called weirdoness and I rather have it underpowered.

And it won't give you past 300 units a tick. At least, I never got more than that with my viking (from 1500 til 6.7k)

Aqualightnin, January 2010

odd. thank you for the input bolle :). i only ask because im interested in checking out a human race sometime, but im quite fond of my orc racial at the moment... (but free military does sound nice).

I personally would LOVE to see a race with immortal units, the HE/Oleg effect (gain units on attack) AND have it be human to get EM, but I don't think that's gonna happen any time at all. but would be quite interesting :P

~aqua

Joe, January 2010

I'll take a close look at my EM coming ticks to see if I indeed gain only 1 type of military each tick.. I think I don't but I never checked carefully.

Aqualightnin, January 2010

wait, I thought it showed up in tribe news with what you gained.. does it not? I know it would get spammy, but no more than the bird/elf racials.. :P

[Random update]: The enchantment cast by your mage causes more loyal followers to flood into your lands. 217 units have joined our military

Aqualightnin, January 2010, edited

hmm. cool.

i wish it was more specific on the 100-5000 units part..

i mean the 0.4%-0.8% is pretty clear.. but lets say you have 500k units..
and you would have 500k sometime around 6k possibly (earlier as brit) but bolle said something about never getting more than 300, so its not going by 0.4-0.8% (.4% of 500,000 would be 2,000 units, he said he was getting less than 300 at that size), so that means its going by the 100-5000 portion of the formula, which is obviously controlled by a landsize/military size scale or something. but it doesn't say anything about what rate that scales.. i mean it could be 100 minimum at 1 acre, and 5000 minimum at 50k acres.. or something, but without an idea of how it scales, its hard to know how much you will get.

maybe its meant to be a mystery.. personally i'd like to see a larger variance, with a set average... like TA. make it like 0.2%-1% randomly selected with an average of 0.6% (would be the same as now, with more excitement, if one could get excited by such things that is)

guess i'll have to hop on devork and dink around :P

thank you farnold, though you may want to edit out the first line there...

Chonka, January 2010, edited

@Arnold with an F; That post is prettttttyyy transparent.

@Aqua; the formula picks either 0.4-0.8% if;
100or5000 / (highest stat)

Highest stat for any Human is 9 (Elite: Grey Beard - 9/5 - 1,530 cr) or (Elite: Berserker - 9/6 - 1,030 cr)
Lowest stat possible is 3 (I take it [:s])..
Minimum is;100 / 9 = 11.1_
Maximum is;5000 / 3 = 1,666.6_

is smaller than 0.4-0.8% of your military..
So, at larger acres with massive military - of course if will pick the 100or5000 / (highest stat)

Hmm. That is probably so wrong..
I'm tired.

Good night Orkfia.

Dev Lord Iluros, January 2010

EM is weird. It only trains one unit at a time, and so it seems to pick the unit that will give you the most, yet at the same time it's the most of the minimal amount.

It would make more sense if it trained all units that you had, which is what we wanted it to do, but of course would mean lowering the percentage to something more balanced.

farnold2, January 2010, edited

that is exactly what it Dev Lord Iluros. I would train the units that I had trained.

Which line needs edited out?

example

If i had 200K Def specs
        80K Elites
        and 190K Thief specs

the EM spell would train extra soldiers into each of those 3.

BladetheWicked, January 2010

some weird things about EM:

- guide says it auto-trains between 100-5k units, I only got 400 tops as dwarf starting from 400-10k acres.
- it also affects soldiers coming in the tick
- it chooses what type of unit to train each tick, which is pretty random and not governed by the formula stated on the guide

Bolle, January 2010

farnold is a brit, quite sure of it :P Maybe dwarf but I doubt that.

farnold2, January 2010

i was a temp, but I died of old age.

Bolle, January 2010

presumably huge amounts of clerics, then :P

farnold2, January 2010

well.....i was ML 42 :)

Aqualightnin, January 2010

blade - “guide says it auto-trains between 100-5k units,”

technically its “100—5000/(Highest unit stat [+1 if 0])”

so for example with vikings its 100- (5000/9) or 100-555.55.

just wanted to point that out :)

~aqua

Wolfbrother, January 2010

One thing I noticed. It doesn't train just one kind of unit in a tick. It trains all types of what you have. So if it said you got 177 units, 150 might go to def specs and 27 to thieves.
