Short status update.
Max and Acwder have been cutting through the bug reports(thanks a lot, awesome job done) and we are planning to set up a tool for collaboration. I hope Bolle/Joe can find some time to put some project on a “time”line. So we can assign tasks. and maybe create 2 or 3 working groups. Important is having everything on paper before coding(at least for me) The current useful languages are only PHP and JS. However, maybe if 2 people feel very inspired to port some functions to a mobile application I would like that too. But also that will require a plan first. - Which functions should be ported right away - Which functions can be added later - How do these functions work and how to make them dynamic(aatw always changes) |

Timeline (DEADLINES), development ork only.
Temporary fix (implement asap, say 18th september, warn playerbase (who can read it here anyway) in advance): 11th september - Remove spells: Mortality, Efficient Mobilization. Add Race Spell: Mortality. This spell enables your troops to slay immortal units when attacking or defending and adds 5% offence to your troops. Permanent fixes (dev ork only): 18th september - Remove heritage 25th september - All tribes start at 1000 acres; Simple race overview in which each race is rated with stars on strong point and weaknesses. (Simply a nice-looking grid with the race names, their pros and cons, OR a system with a few variables and those rated with stars. Thinking by Dev & Coders, on IRC). 2nd october - Market limited (decay formula on goods that belong to no alive tribe. Formula to be developed, slap Bolle & Joe) 9th october - Tutorial for newly signed up players (to be developed on IRC with coders + dev). 16th october - Buffer week for all the above that missed their deadlines. Dev discusses the costs on races according to http://aatw-live.rob-franken.nl/forums/game/373090/dev-game-concept-fix-by-joe/0-25. Fix orc costs. 23rd october - Orcs fixed according to http://aatw-live.rob-franken.nl/forums/game/373090/dev-game-concept-fix-by-joe/0-25 and costs. Dev finishes costs for all races. 30th october - Elves fixed, same as above but costs already finished. 6th november - Humans fixed, same as above. Inform playerbase about impending changes. 13th november - Winged fixed, same as above. 20th november - Cursed fixed, same as above. 27th november - Final check of race changes. 4th december - Filling in of the “Simple race overview” from september 25th by Dev + Coders. 11th december - Final check of all code to see if it's in accordance with the new code, room for improvement etc. 18th december - same as 11th. Send e-mail to all (ex) orkfians about upcoming changes & post on facebook and twitter and all that. 25th december - Final check of whatever needs checking before changes can go live. December 26th - Mass Reset. Close site access (or whatever you coders call it) December 27-30th checks of bugs and all. January 1st - Changes go live. Open site access, send invitation by mail, facebook to all known (ex) orkfians. |

Well I gave it a try anyway in my non-coder talk. I supposed the structural changes were best done before the race changes, and then I just divided it in weekly bits. It's designed for ~3-4 coders sharing the work, if you can get more you can change the schedule: assign races to group A and the rest to group B, a final check by a member of group A + a member of group B + Harry/Max/Acwder/Robokop (if not yet included).
That timeline would be done 16th of october with the changes and end of october with checking, and we could upload them in november. Anyway, you can see how much time I'm giving us all for buffer weeks and all that, so I say we strife for getting it all done before the end of the year |
