Hi all, It's great to see that there still are some of the old gang here! Just from the topic starters I recognize the bro's Bolle and Joe as well as Jamzi, HaRRy, Sweets, Acwder, Jammed, ScorpiAS, Martel, Darkwing and a few that are maybes. For the ones who are like “huh, who is this dude?” I always went under the name Luke in this game. I played it for about 4-5 years and stopped 7 years ago. I met my current partner (Marilin) through Orkfia during a player gathering and our son (the first orkfia kid, has there been more by now?) is turning seven in January. Why come and write now you may ask? I've come here for two reasons, one is to check in on everyone and see how you all are doing, the second reason is a more selfish one :) Just before I left I posted about a game I was making and a few of you were playing it (Joe and Bolle for two). It quickly fell apart though but I stayed interested in game making so I eventually started a quite ambitious project. It's something like a transport tycoon/sim city kind of game that can be played in the browser even though it is a 3d mmo game. Not mmo as in farmville and the other mmo wannabees where you have your own plot of land and you only interact by sending things to other people, but as in a huge world where hundreds of people share the experience. If you're interested and want to check it out I'd be honored to have you. It's free to play for quite some time still so there is nothing stopping you from having a look. It works on Windows, Linux and Mac but you need to have Java installed. You can find the game at: http://stateofprofit.com There is also a forum where you can chat, report bugs and write suggestions: http://stateofprofit.com/forum If you get stuck while playing or want to have a look at the game before you register, Marilin made a youtube movie of the previous version of the game so you can get an idea about what it's about. The sound is a bit soft so you might need to turn the volume up: http://youtube.com/user/stateofprofit Kind regards and I hope to hear from you all! Mike/Luke | |

apparently background information on the game Welcome back Luke, I remember United Races and the tribe name Starlight (for Marilin?). Don't forget to play this game as well, it's finally getting some changes Kelvin is still around too, somewhere. Oh yeah, the concept of MMO transport tycoon always appealed to me |

Hey Bolle! :)
That's the first forum I posted the game on, lots of java programmers so they helped me squash the big bugs. Nice find :) I'll have a look at the game for sure, if it takes as much time as it used to I don't have the time for doing alot though, I remember putting the alarm at every two hours during the night to get the perfect start :P Kelvin is around still as well? I thought all the beer and poker nights would have gotten the best of him by now ;) |

Heya Luke!
Welcome back. You'll find the changes in the game have made playing much less intense - meaning usually full nights of sleep ;) Hope all is well with our first 'Orkfian family'. |

Sweet, I checked the website out briefly and will have a look on the game later. |

All is fine here Sweets, the big dude is going to school, Marilin is feeling better than she used to and I have a very nice consultancy job that gives me lots of flexibility and possibilities to travel around the world :)
Thanks Acwder, let me know what you think either here or on the official forum :) I've given your greetings and you get greetings back :) |

Hi Sanzo, feel free to post about Orkfia on the forum, who knows :) Hi Kelvin, I still have you on msn and see your status changes, nice to see some brownies still around :) |

LOL Nope no Dutchie gatherings for me. Got invited to one and was just short of the funds to go. I believe EM and Kilowatt made it to that one.

Kilowatt I remember and she was there indeed, all the young guys were drooling over her :)

We had an Orkfia meeting in Sweden (Marbäck) last weekend in August. GNS was reformed after that :P

I solely blame Kelvin for wasting my time here :(
The meeting was superb though! High class, as always ;) |

Luke! It's very nice to hear you are all doing so well :) I can't believe the ork-baby is now a seven year old grown child though - wow time flies!
I can't remember when I last spoke to you but DW moved here to England from NL and now we've been married happily since 2005.. no ork-babies here so far though! I really like the sound of your game as those type of meglomaniac games are always my favourite type. I don't have time to start it this week as have lots going on (and never want to repeat the time when I bought zoo tycoon and called in sick at work for 3 days - bad Jamzi!). Stick around here and keep reminding us to try it is the best thing to do ;) Orkfia is nowhere near as time consuming as it used to be and much more stable after the collective work of everyone who worked on it in the past and now under the wise hands of Robokop/haRRy/Sweets so you should give it a go again when you get chance. Great to hear from you again and greetings to Marilin |

Hi Jamzi, It's so fun to hear that you got married! I remember all the turmoil back then and I'm really happy that it ended with an happily ever after :)
Marilin gives you really big greetings and feel free to check out the game when you have a bit less to do :) Luke |
