blowing off a little steam and throwing in some mockery here..

i have been playing orkfia on and off since the very begining. i am not really into the forums or the chat rooms so i am basically unknown to most in the game. once in a while i will make a post or report an issue but it is far in between these posts.

when i first started playing there was a lot of players in the game and i have noticed the drastic drop in numbers. i have my beliefs of why. but that is not the point of this post.

my point is i have played for many years on and off in the begining i sought after glory now i am laid back playing for fun not really caring where my personal ranking is listed or if even makes the listing at all. so what i would like to know is where do players have the right to come and call me a noob? i have adapted a cetain style of play that best fits me and it is how i enjoy playing the game. i will trash talk when seen fit, i will attack, run op's and cast when seen fit. but the one thing that i really get a kick out of is the way the word noob is thrown around orkfia.

back when i started i played in several successful alliances, was a very active influence in obtaining success in each. i started and lead several of my own alliances over the years to success. i have played in solo alliances where i had no alliance mates to rely to do well. i gave some a challenge and held my own against others before i fell. i believe i have earned the right to call another a noob when seen fit.

but now that i am older and have three times the real life responsibilities than what i had back then. i can not devote the time i use to. basically looking to orkfia as a new way to blow off steam mostly. so when i see gang ups i know it is all part of the game and i am 100% cool with that i am no angel. but i have to laugh and just ridicule publicly these idiots who think because they see 6-8 of their alliance mates banging the heck out of 1 person that they all of a sudden have the right to throw the word noob into the mix and truly feel they are justified to do so.

there they sit behind a wall of illusion. these self proclaimed masters of orkfia who look to instegate fights but run when the challenge is presented. then have the kahonies to turn and call one a noob in their only line of offense after their alliancemates did what that one wanna be master could not.

the word noob it just sounds funny to me. so when i see it used the way i have over the past month or so in tribe messages sent to me. i have to just laugh due to the fact that word has taken on entirely new meaning.

okay enough noob drunk babbling good night all you long time playing noobs. this old fart noob has had enough noob cocktails for one noob night. until i noob it up tomorrow i shall have noob dreams and wish noob dreams to all you noob players who are out there noobing it up every noob day.

so basically what it is i was saying i think correct me if i am wrong. that you may have been playing orkfia for a very long time but if you don't post in the forums or chat in the chat rooms and don't have the every player in the game on your private im's contact lists you are now considered a noob.

so i will accept my newly defined noob status and go play the game just the way i have been for some time now and remain noobly silent the way i noobily do.

noob god that word is funny sounding noooooooooooooooooob!

Kelvin, November 2011

Your style tells if you're a n00b or not, not how long you've been playing :P

Bolle, November 2011

It doesn't matter even IF you post. It's quite clear that the agressors are pros and the victims are n00bs. I don't see what's so hard about this universal truth [:p]

Halcyon, November 2011

big words more or less lose their desired effect when misspelt

Acwder, November 2011

Hey Vertigo.

There is some selfclaimed professional Alliances in this game who will decide that your alliance itself is noobish if it doesn't behave the way they expect it to.

The word noob is thrown around in this game very loosely, this is not unique to this game but happens in most games, however the average age in other games are usually lower then here. Here it just stuck with the players since the “golden” era.

In Orkfia this results in three types of players.

1. Newbies : players that are new to this game
2. Veterans: players that have played enough ages to handle themselves and played in acknowledged alliances
3. “noobs”: everything in between

So the word can just be ignored tbf, anyone that claims otherwise if just a noob him-/herself:p

i think for being a vet you also need te be active in forums, and according to ENDer, be ENDer, and according to lepel not be, among others, ENDer. As you can see here we covered about everyone so don't feel offended when someone calls you a noob, they themselves are noobs too (at least according to some)

Bolle, November 2011

Veterans: a commonly understood term for players who are not new to this game and have decided that they are vets and, hence, the rest are noobs.

Bolle, November 2011

I think we should use the term 'layperson' instead of newbie [;)]

scarlo2, November 2011, edited

The response in this thread tells me there are many of us poor, sorry-assed veteran noobs out there, who getting killed and then ridiculed for it.

I propose we start a club.

But instead of “layperson” as Bolle suggests, I prefer “laid”. This is probably a more appropriate contrast to our aggressors who seems to find meaning and pleasure in their malevolent smiting.

Kaamos, November 2011

Same boat as vertigo when it comes to forums.

Putting it all to perspective, it's nothing compared to playing a shooter ;-)

Some people are just playing more aggressive than others and some include using PM for it.
Don't take it too personal :) I've often had great talks with the in game 'hot heads' and I'm in an alliance with one now.

I do agree with you though, I would like some less name calling and threatening though pm. But I can live with it.

I think you take the word too personally, I think I have called everyone in ork a n00b at one time or another. I have also accidentally demolished all my homes, or farms, bounced, chosen the wrong op, etc. We are all n00bs at some point [;)]

Bolle, November 2011

frothing mad hot head in your case HaRRy [evilgrin]

Jamzi, November 2011

Loved the rant.. seeing that, I only wish you spoke up more often as it was fun and largely correct. I don't think anyone is immune to being called a noob/n00b though. It is just one of those things on the internet, when I get messages like that I either retort back along a similar line in an ironic way (not very often but once in a while when something really gets my goat) or I just don't respond but chuckle to myself that the other person had to spend their leisure time writing out a message to me which in my view is pretty funny.

Joe, November 2011

The only one you can be sure of to be a real noob is yourself (this is not personal to anyone in particular but personal to everyone in general :P)
Assuming that others are more, less or just as noob as you is done often but does not follow strictly and there definitely is no certainty in such claims.

mazja, November 2011

Hi, my name is mazja and I am a noob. I have been in recovery since 2004.

The first step in recovery is ADMITTING you have a problem.
