Yea, sorry, I'm just being honest. I've been around here off and on for a decade and have played with, against (in direct conflict), or trained many hundreds of players.

The ones that don't get the basic formula of growth rather quickly will never make it far on their own, let alone in a group where you need to understand a lot more than just growing.

I think it took me quite some ages before being able to reach 5k acres, but i also made 14k acres later on so there could still be hope for the guy.

I'm with robokop on this one. Took me forever to finally hit 5k then i could do it consistantly. Then I linked up with Gondolin and got even better.

The main thing is PATIENCE. Growth requires it. New players tend to train train train whenever they can, and don't understand the process of stashing and then pumping. It wasn't until I joined a very competitive alliance that FORCED me to play better. They had more thieves in my tribe then the enemies, and it definately helped. They were on IRC with me all the time asking to see my military, my construction, everything. They'd point out every mistake I made, sometimes rudely. 2 ages later? I'm looking back at the slow oleg's who couldn't surpass me! :D

The turn-around is quick. Noob age: 1800 dwarf with off specs, def specs, and elites trained with very little background knowledge. Next age: Top 20. Next Age: #1

Also, I got extra knowledge by having multi's in the second-tier shitty alliances like Origin, FUN, SK, NWG, PiG, Gondolin and Wargods. :) Double the fun!
