Age 54 changes

The changes below are a mixture of balancing and making the game more fun - sometimes, the latter was found more important than the former. We hope you'll enjoy the Orcs' new traits, though their unit costs are now probably too low.

ORCS

The coders are laying the basis for the war and race group traits, but that's no reason to not
improve Orcs in the meantime.

Uruk Hai

Add Rage: gives a 5% bonus to offense per consecutive attack, up to a maximum bonus of 15%. If a general remains home for 1 tick this bonus is reset to 0%. (Note: the first attack is without any bonus).

Oleg Hai
Thief 440 cr -> 300 cr

Mori Hai
Add trait: 25% resistance to magic
Ogre 750 cr -> 700 cr

Rept Hai
Add Cunning: gives an offense bonus of max 15%. When your general is home, you “regenerate” 1% offense per tick; after 15 ticks you've got the full 15% bonus. On attack, the bonus is used up and you start at 0% again (regardless of whether the bonus was 7% or, say, 15%).

Other races

Templar
Paladin 5/5 900 cr -> 800 cr

Brittonian
Marauder 7/0 675 cr -> 6/0 625 cr
Bandit 4/7 775 cr -> 3/7 875 cr
Rogue 75 cr -> 150 cr

Owl
Swift Feather 420 cr -> 600 cr

Spells

Lightning Bolt now kills 0.25% of units not home, instead of killing units based on off/def values. Note: it used to kill on average about 0.275% so this is a slight nerf.

Juranimosity: Cost and difficulty equal to LB. No longer war only.
Jura removes 2.5% thieves for two hours, 20% of which are killed instantly (so 0.5% thieves killed per Jura).

Enforced Honesty: Cost and difficulty equal to LB. Now removes 2.5% of max tp.

Operations

NEW OP (actually a reintroduction)
Hwighton Raid:
requires 1 thief per own acre
Destroys 4% of max mp
Costs the same as Arson.

Heritage

newFame = 5000 + oldFame * 0.2 ->
newFame = 5000 + oldFame * 0.1

Sneak Peak

There's no real sneak peak this age, it's the same as last age. We're still looking to make races more fun to play by adding conditional traits (war-only or stronger when you've got a bigger group of a certain type of race). That requires some coding groundwork though. In the meantime, you're welcome to suggest race traits!

the bird is no longer the word

Halc -

if you are active owls still beats any other explorer race in terms of income even with the cost hike

Probably. The reason for the cost increase is that 1 hour return time on thieves is already powerful enough, and since Owl clearly have an income bonus as well that's just too much.

So a de using Juranimosity on a owls every 5 hours could force im to restart...
thinking out loud..

Generally you'd need two mages to remove about 30 TPA for two hours, killing about 6 TPA.

Assuming 30 TPA you lose 200 thieves per jura per 1000 acres (so at 3k you lose 600 thieves per jura). This is clearly very expensive for Owl. However, this'll happen mostly in war situations; and in those cases I expect most alliances will still prefer to go for a kill.

I thought about it earlier and while it's true that Owl will be comparatively vulnerable to Jura, I doubt it'll be used structurally on any but full thief Owls.

EDIT: Also don't look at Jura just in terms of Owls. The spell is obviously boosted more to the point of being overpowered than being useless; that's because I doubt it'll be used much tactically. The same counts for Hwighton Raid and Enforced Honesty. All those ops are supposed to be good, especially for denying the damage of larger tribes (a 10k full mage Templar without thief def is a perfect Hwighton Raid target for 3 1500 acre brits).

Also, destroying tp/mp currently doesn't yield power or hostility. I'd like to hear whether you'd rather it does give power (with a size modifier ofc) because it would make more sense, but it's kinda tricky since you can then win wars by denying the enemy alliance their capacity to op - e.g. tp/mp removal wars which are hugely boring and could then be super effective.

Use jura to temp remove defense in case of owls helps attackers too

Uruk Hai gain Rage even on failed attack?
and when Eagles elude them as well?

Bolle -

Good point.

The condition should be that the general is not home. Additionally, it should only give bonuses on a successful attack; so with retreats and eludes you don't quite lose the bonus but you don't quite keep it either.

if this turns into a national retreat sports game I guess we'll raise the fame losses on retreat [:p]

Kelvin -

Gain % rage calced against % of needed off sent? Sending 1 troop wont give anything but if you send 99% you gain some?

Hodor -

Lose rage when sending below like 50% of off needed for succes? and you could always keep rage by raiding smaller tribes etc

xiannic -

How i'd prefer to see it work:

- Lose rage if you fail due to insufficient army (it's your fault for not calcing)
- Keep rage for eluded attacks.

max -

Should gain rage when getting eluded [:D]

Hodor -

Will it show in ops rage/cunning?

Sanzo -

Let's make all races OP in their own way :)

I think every race should get a reward for activity, either it be extra land like some already have... similar to how that idea of uruk hai's rage

Cyn -

Screw playing britt now :/ its been ruined

Halc -

well they did have better efficiency and cost than some specialist attacker races

Blind -

btw the Templar unit that is 5/5 is called Paladin, not just 5/5
